“Konkana is uniquely beautiful,” said Munnabhai gal Vidya Balan in a television interview yesterday. And the dignified lady in her didn’t feel too flattered by the compliments from the TV Anchor that Konkana isn’t as good looking as her. “Beauty is what beauty does,” she replied without flipping an eyelid. This M.A in Sociology has her mind firmly in control and she doesn’t seem to be in any race to outdo anyone.

On being asked as to what she is doing in Mani Rathnam’s ‘Guru’ where she is playing a handicapped girl while Abhishek and Aishwarya have the more meaty roles, Balan replied, “Ash is Ash, while I am what I am…You can’t compare the two.” Having wowed the audience-n-critics with her stellar debut in ‘Parineeta’, Vidya is getting loads of accolades for her radio Jockey avatar in ‘Lage Raho Munnabhai’. She is grateful to Vinod Chopra Production for giving her three films (Parineeta, Lage Raho Munnabhai and Eklavya). Besides, ‘Guru’ she also has Nikhil Advani’s ‘Salaam-e-Ishq; inching towards release besides a few other interesting projects.

This lass-with-class is surely going places…’Lagi Raho Vidya’
